Biology I

Required

Grade: 10

Biology I is a lab science course with lab write-ups written after each completed lab. Topics covered in this course will include: Ecology, Environmental Science, Populations and Communities, Biomes of the World, Biochemistry, Five Kingdoms of Life, Cell Biology, Genetics, Inheritance, and Gene Technology, and the Systems of the Human Body.

Biology II

Elective

Grade: 12

Biology II is a lab science course with lab write-ups written after each completed lab. Topics covered in this course will include:

1. Structure, Function, and Disorders associated with the Systems of the Human Body.
2. Construct and maintain an outdoor learning area where individuals can learn about and appreciate their natural surroundings.

Students will work in groups to research various plants to be used in the outdoor learning area. Work areas will include a crop area, a learning path, vegetable garden, flowers, shrubs/bushes and trees and a native grass area. Enjoyment of working outdoors is a must.

Chemistry

Elective

Grade: 11 or 12

Chemistry is the study of the properties and structure of matter. It combines chemical theories and concepts with quantitative problems.

Pre-requisites: Algebra

Physical Science

Elective

Grade: 9

Physical Science is a study of matter and energy. It emphasizes everyday application of physical laws.

Pre-requisites: None

Physics

Elective

Grade: 12

Physics is the study of the physical laws. Explanation of these laws are keyed to experiments and actual experiences, and lead students to an awareness of how physical laws operate in everyday phenomena.

Pre-requisites: Algebra
